Adjustable Loop Ring
Some men leak urine during sexual arousal or orgasm for the first one or two years after radical prostatectomy. This problem results from surgical disruption of nerves and muscle fibers in the pelvis and bladder. Urine leaks during sexual activity can be very distressing for both the patient and his partner. Effective treatment with the variable tension loop can alleviate this distress and help men enjoy sex again after radical prostatectomy.
How can Adjustable Loop Ring help?
The Adjustable Loop Ring is a small loop made of soft silicone that is placed over the penis prior to sexual activity. The key to the device is that it gives the user the ability to apply variable tension, so that just enough pressure is exerted on the urethra (the urine tube) to stop urinary leakage, but not so much that it’s uncomfortable to wear. The ability to adjust the tension allows the Adjustable Loop Ring to be individualized for each man’s needs. This is the only device on the market that is intended specifically to treat sexual incontinence.
How well does Adjustable Loop Ring work?
A recent large medical trial (British Journal of Urology Sexual Incontinence Study) evaluated 124 men with sexual incontinence following radical prostatectomy who used the variable tension penile loop. The study found significant improvement in the frequency and severity of urinary leakage in an overwhelming majority of patients. About half of all patients were completely dry using the device and most of the remaining patients experienced incontinence only rarely or occasionally. There were no adverse side effects reported. Patient and partner distress about sex were both significantly reduced. Look in the picture gallery above for simple instructions!
What is the science behind Adjustable Loop Ring?
The Adjustable Loop Ring provides variable circumferential penile compression to achieve effective compression of the urethra (urine channel) while maintaining blood flow to the penis.
